American, 1912-2004, born in Saskatchewan. Abstract painter usually filed under Minimalism though she called herself an Abstract Expressionist. Faint penciled grids and pale horizontal bands on large square canvases, made in long desert retreat in New Mexico, holding a near-blank surface still.

Why it matters - the door
Martin’s art can feel so mathematical and yet so calming. It is the intersection of logical and artistic, just like how my life is with my job being a software engineer and my love for art, the tension between subjective and objective.
