Seoul, Sogyeok-dong, in the Samcheong cluster below Gyeongbokgung. A commercial gallery (founded 1982) spread across several small buildings (K1, K2, K3) tucked into the lanes, showing major Korean modern and contemporary work alongside international names. A short walk from Arario, one stop on a day of galleries in the Bukchon/Samcheong cluster.

Grows from

My own growth, not where Namjoon pointed, though it is a place he keeps pointing at. I came on my own gallery crawl; the show I walked into, “Colors of Yoo Youngkuk,” is one he had already marked.

Why it matters

(fill in: the lanes, the small buildings, walking into the Yoo Youngkuk show without planning to.)
