Lee Seung-taek (Un)Bound (Gallery Hyundai)

Lee Seung-taek bends the rules of matter: a celadon jar bound and dented by rope, stones hung soft on cords, hair drawn into a tree on raw linen, smoke and fire left as marks. “(Un)Bound” gathered decades of this “non-sculpture” at Gallery Hyundai, Seoul, 25 May to 3 July 2022. I walked into it on a day of galleries in the Samcheong cluster.

Grows from

Grows from Lee Seung-taek (a convergence seed) and shows at Gallery Hyundai. The show that planted him for me, and the one Namjoon had already archived.

Why it matters

(fill in: the door, what the bound matter did standing in front of it.)

Works encountered

My photographs from the rooms. The hung-stone work has its own note: Godret Stone.
