French, 1840-1926. Founder of Impressionism. The late Water Lilies (Nymphéas), painted at Giverny, let the motif dissolve into light, reflection, and the surface of the pond, working right at the edge of abstraction.
My own, known since I was young, long before this garden. Not where Namjoon pointed. One of the first painters I loved. Met the late Water Lilies in person at Chichu Art Museum, Naoshima in 2025.
